7 New TV Shows And Movies We’re Excited To Watch Online In August 2022

You better clear your schedules and stock up on snacks because this month is jam packed with exciting new titles, from movies to TV shows. Netflix’s two most popular series, Indian Matchmaking and Never Have I Ever, are returning with their much-anticipated new seasons. Alia Bhatt’s first movie as a producer, Darlings, will also be available for streaming this month. There’s also something exciting for fans of superhero and fantasy genres.

Here are some of the new TV shows and movies that we can’t wait to watch this month…

Wedding Season (4 Aug)

If you, like us, are always on the lookout for a good rom-com to stream for a cozy movie night in, then you’re in luck because Wedding Season is just round the corner. The movie hits all the classic romantic movie tropes, including pretend-dating to fool well-intentioned overbearing parents and falling in love at weddings. The movie stars Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma and Lion actress Pallavi Sharda.

Darlings (5 Aug)

Alia Bhatt’s big debut project as a producer is set to be released on the small screen this Friday. The actress is starring in the movie as well, alongside Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma. The black comedy follows Badru as she tries to reform her volatile husband in her own unique way with a little help from her mother.

Indian Matchmaking Season 2 (10 Aug)

Sima aunty is back with more arranged matches for stubborn millenials and meme fodder for budding comedians across the country. The second season will see some old faces return, including Aparna Shewakramani and Nadia Jagessar, and will have Sima aunty “manage expectations from both old and new clients”. What else is new?

Never Have I Ever Season 3 (12 Aug)

Mindy Kaling’s hugely popular Netflix series about teenagers experiencing their first love, heartbreaks, and more is back with a new season. This time, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is facing a new set of relationship issues as she climbs high up on the slippery highschool social ladder, thanks to her ‘boyfriend’ Paxton. Aside from Ramakrishnan, cast members from the previous seasons, including Darren Barnett, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, and Ramona Young, are returning for the third season too.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (17 Aug)

Marvel is all set to introduce the world to Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), badass attorney who also, sometimes, transforms into a giant green rage monster known as She-Hulk. The show follows her struggles in managing both of her identities, with some help from her cousin Bruce Banner AKA The Incredible Hulk. The series will also star Jamila Jameel, Mark Ruffalo, and Tim Roth. The new trailer also reveals that Benedict Wong will be making an appearance in the series as Wong, connecting She-Hulk to the ongoing events in the MCU.

House of Dragon (21 Aug)

If you’ve ever wondered where Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen came from, much before the whole burning down an entire city in a fit of rage and their incestuous romance, then House of Dragon is just the show for you. The prequel is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will follow the story of the Targaryens and their rise to power. The show stars Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, and Milly Alcock.

Delhi Crime Season 2 (26 Aug)

The Emmy award-winning series is back with a new season and a new horrifying crime being investigated by the Delhi police. Shefali Shah’s DCP Vartika Chaturvedi is on the hunt for a serial killer this time, along with her over-worked team. Rasika Duggal and Rajesh Tailang are returning for the new season.
