Our favourite Harry Potter star is all set to portray iconic pop parody legend, “Weird Al” Yankovic in an upcoming biopic. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, the Grammy-winning musician confirmed the news of the film saying, “When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule.” “And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for,” he added.
In the Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’s trailer, Radcliffe can be seen performing the hit parody single, ‘Like A Surgeon’, inspired by Madonna’s iconic song ‘Like A Virgin’, getting the audience in the groove. The Jungle actor sports a very similar style and look, making him almost unrecognisable to the fans. What’s more is that Yankovic has co-written the film along with Eric Appel, who is also sitting on the director’s chair. The movie will be released later in fall on the streaming website, The Roku Channel.
That’s another movie you can add to your watchlist this year!
