Fan-favourite actress Nayanthara has served as a force of nature when it comes to encouraging feminism in the South Indian film industry. Known for her versatility, the 38-year-old star has proven her acting prowess over the years through her purposeful choice of roles, predominantly in women-centric movies, and her depiction of powerful female characters in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. She also became the very first South Indian celebrity to snag a spot on the Forbes India “Celebrity 100” list (2018).

While talking about her journey so far, she said, “When it all started, I had no idea on how it would be. I was not a filmy kid. I am just a normal girl, who wants to give her 100 percent in whatever she does.”

The actress, whose real name is Diana Mariam Kurian, recently grabbed headlines when she got married to her longtime beau Vignesh Shivan in 2022. Their beautiful wedding film, titled Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, was documented and released on Netflix a few weeks ago. Soon after marriage, the couple welcomed their twin boys Uyir and Ulagam who were born via surrogacy.

With so many memorable roles in her impressive filmography, she has barely skipped a beat. Apart from dominating the movie scene, Nayanthara is also a fitness freak and is known to exercise regularly. As she begins a fresh chapter of her life, we’re taking notes from the new mum.

The Netrikann actress reportedly does not resort to following harmful trends like crash diets and skipping meals. Instead, she has a diet plan that includes wholesome foods in recommended quantities and she consumes a good mix of fruits, vegetables, meat and eggs. Moreover, the actress avoids refined sugar and also drinks a lot of coconut water and a special breakfast smoothie.

Lucky for us, Nayanthara’s nutritionist, Munmun Ganeriwal, revealed one of the star’s favourite nutritious and healthy smoothie recipes in her book, ‘Yuktahaar: The Belly and Brain Diet,’ and we can’t wait to try it out for ourselves.

Let’s take a look at Nayanthara’s go-to breakfast coconut smoothie recipe below

Ingredients

2 cups Coconut Water

1 cup Tender Coconut

½ cup Coconut Milk

1 tsp Healthy Sweetener of choice (honey, jaggery, stevia etc)

1 pinch of Cinnamon

1 pinch of Cardamom

Method

  1. Add the coconut water, coconut milk and chopped pieces of tender coconut in a blender and blitz it all up.
  2. Now, place a sieve on a glass and strain the concoction through it. If you like the fibrous parts of the coconut, skip this step.
  3. Lastly, add the cardamom, cinnamon and your sweetener of choice and give it a good stir.
  4. Garnish with some mint leaves and serve chilled. You can enjoy this smoothie for breakfast as well as an evening snack.
