Sushi cravings can hit you like a truck at any time of the day. While the dish is mouth-wateringly delicious, it does tend to make quite a dent in our wallets every time we make a trip to the restaurant. Thankfully, the TikTok gods have heard our prayers and given us a sushi recipe that we can try and enjoy at home. But it comes with a twist- it’s baked! Introduced by Mimi Qui Reyes, the Sushi Bake is the new food phenomenon that has taken over the internet, and here is how you can make it yourself.

  • Rice Vinegar
  • Granulated White Sugar
  • Sesame Oil
  • Imitation Crab (Shredded)
  • Raw Shrimp (Chopped)
  • Cream Cheese
  • Sriracha
  • Kewpie Mayonnaise
  • Soy Sauce
  • Lime Juice
  • Seaweed Sheet

To Make The Sushi Rice

Step 1: Cook the sushi rice as you would normally and then put it in a small bowl. While the rice is cooking, add rice vinegar, granulated sugar, and sesame oil, and mix it all together. Then, heat it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds until the sugar has dissolved.

Step 2: Once the rice is cooked, add the mixture to it and mix it well.

To Make The Spicy Mayo

Step 1: In a small bowl, add kewpie mayo, lemon juice, sesame oil, sugar, and sriracha, and mix it well.

To Make The Crab And Shrimp Filling

Step 1: Add chopped crab meat, raw shrimp, cream cheese, kewpie mayonnaise, sriracha, sesame oil, soy sauce, and lime juice in a bowl and mix them well.

Assembling And Baking The Sushi

Step 1: Before you start assembling the sushi, preheat the oven to 425°F.

Step 2: While the oven is getting preheated, take a 9x9 baking pan and add a layer of sushi rice to the bottom of the pan.

Step 3: Follow it up by sprinkling some furikake on the top. After that, top it up with a layer of the crab and prawns mixture and put it in the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes until it’s golden on the top.

Step 4: Once it has cooled down a bit, scoop the sushi, wrap it with crispy seaweed and enjoy!
