Most Iconic Red Carpet Fashion Moments Of 2022

As we prepare ourselves to enter 2023 and follow through on all the resolutions that we swear fervently would last past February, it’s time to look back at the year gone by and recollect some of the best memories of 2022.
When it comes to fashion, there were many incredible moments that would go down in history, especially the red carpet looks.
This is the year when Kim Kardashian made everyone and their mothers mad by wearing the historic gown worn by Marylin Monroe when she serenaded President Kennedy on his birthday. Then there was Deepika Padukone who partnered with long-term collaborator Sabyasachi to dominate Cannes 2022 in her ensembles.
We’ve narrowed down some of our favourite red carpet moments from the year gone by, take a look…

Deepika Padukone at Cannes Film Festival
The Pathaan actress was a member of the jury this year and made her 2022 Cannes debut in Louis Vuitton, right after she was appointed as the first Indian celebrity brand ambassador of the luxury label.
For her first red carpet look, however, Padukone opted for a golden and black striped sari that screamed vintage glam. The actress served many more stunning, and some divisive, looks on the red carpet. But her white ruffled Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla sari will remain our favourite for a long time.

79 Venice International Film Festival 2022
Florence Pugh at the Venice Film Festival
All eyes were on Florence Pugh at the Venice Film Festival premiere of her movie Don’t Worry Darling. You can catch up on all the behind-the-scenes drama that made the film one of the most talked about cultural phenomena of the year. Pugh did not disappoint when it came to bringing the drama onto the red carpet. She showed up in a Valentino Haute Couture tulle dress with dramatic sleeves and an even more dramatic train. The look was enough to turn her co-star Chris Pine into her personal paparazzi and, TBF, we don’t blame him.

Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala
Not all the red carpet looks were iconic for the right reasons. Kim Kardashian borrowed the iconic beaded gown designed by Jean Louis for Marylin Monroe to wear at the Met Galal red carpet.
Not only did she not interpret the theme that referenced America’s Gilded Age correctly, she also angered people by revealing she lost 7kgs in three weeks just so she could fit into the dress. There were also reports of the celebrity damaging the historic dress permanently, but they were quickly refuted by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, the organisation that lent her the dress in the first place.

Blake Lively at the Met Gala
The list of iconic red carpet moments of any year couldn’t be complete without mentioning at least a few Met Gala looks. This time, co-host Blake Lively knocked it out of the park with her custom Versace transformative gown.
The actress paid tribute to New York architecture in her gown that dramatically transformed as she walked the red carpet into some of the city’s most famous landmarks. Even though it didn’t exactly fit the theme, nobody was complaining.

Billie Eilish at the Met Gala
Rounding up the iconic Met Gala looks is Billie Eilish, who won major points for hitting the nail right on its head with her custom-made Gucci outfit. The singer wore a satin corseted gown with a green lace underlay and a gathered ivory skirt with a padded bustle.

Bella Hadid at Cannes Film Festival
Bella Hadid has given us several memorable red carpet looks at Cannes Film Festival, like the Elsa Schiaparelli gilded lungs gown from last year.
This time, the supermodel was on a vintage Versace spree and gave us one stunning look after the other. The one that we loved the most was the sculpted black gown from Versace’s Spring 1987 collection.

"Gangubai Kathiawadi" Premiere - 72nd Berlinale International Film Festival
Alia Bhatt at Berlin Film Festival
Alia Bhatt made all the right moves when it came to her movies this year. The actress’ Gangubai Kathiawadi gained worldwide recognition and had a premiere at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival.
Throughout the promotional run for the film, the actress stuck to white outfits as an extension of her character’s unique wardrobe choice in the movie. The red carpet at the BFF was no different. She wore a silk Rimple and Harpreet sari with a fringed pallu and looked like a million bucks.

Timothée Chalamet at Venice Film Festival
For the premiere of his movie Bones and All at the Venice Film Festival, Timothée Chalamet partnered with his designer friend Haider Ackermann to create one of the most widely-memed looks of 2022.
The actor wore a backless halter-neck, scarf-like top and trousers, paired with pointy black boots. The outfit was instantly iconic.

"Queens" and "Raven Song" - The Red Sea International Film Festival
Sonam Kapoor at Red Sea Film Festival
How can a list of iconic fashion moments of the year be complete without a mention of Sonam Kapoor? The actress had taken a little break from red carpet appearances during her pregnancy but she returned with full force at the recently held Red Sea Film Festival.
Kapoor wore a red Rami Kadi Couture gown with statement sleeves and a billowing cape, casually showing everyone around her how it’s really done.
