One of the biggest headlines of 2022 had been about Tom Ford selling his eponymous brand to Esteé Lauder for a whopping $3 billion and potentially retiring from the industry.

The time for that departure is finally here and Ford dropped the news in his characteristics no flair manner, with a campaign video on Instagram accompanied by a statement.

“Tom Ford, in his final collection for his eponymous brand, has turned to his archives and reissued his favourite looks from the past 13 years,” read the statement, “In 2010, Tom Ford launched his first womenswear collection. Today, more than a decade later, for his final collection, he pays homage to the TOM FORD woman with limited re-editions of his best-known iconic signature looks.”

The final collection takes a look back at some of the most iconic looks by the designer, including Gwyneth Paltrow’s white gown for the 2012 Oscars and Zendaya’s stunning red breastplate from last year’s Critics Choice Awards. The collection also features some of his signature looks, including sequin spot jersey dresses, leopard print suits, and slinky gowns.

Photographed by Steven Klein and styled by Carine Roitfeld, the campaign film features some of Ford’s favourite models over the years, like Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Amber Valetta, Karen Elson, and Caroline Trentini.

It’s not clear yet whether Ford will fully retire from the world of fashion, an industry where he’s had an indelible impact. But it’s clear that we’ve not seen the last of the legendary man!
