Whether it’s a statement lehenga or a fun and flirty summer dress, Telugu superstar Pooja Hegde can pull it off in style. The actress, who has built a loyal fan base across the country, regularly treats her 23.1 million followers to behind-the-scenes action from her sets and offers glimpses of her versatile closet.
Hegde is no stranger to stepping out in glamorous, statement-making ensembles on the red carpet, but her off-duty style is more approachable and, in her own words, classic.
“I always gravitate towards something classic because I always feel that it is something that is evergreen and stays forever,” says the actress, as she sits down with HELLO! for a chat following the launch of the new online store for Forever New, of which she was recently named the brand ambassador.
The Mohenjo Daro actress claims that her association with the label couldn’t be more apt as her style is an extension of the brand’s aesthetics. When asked to pick a favourite from the latest collection, she exclaims, “It’s very hard to pick a favourite as the brand truly exudes my style. I love their printed mini dresses and vintage florals, and my current favourite is the dark floral mini dress that I recently wore for a shoot.”
Hegde’s love for fashion began at an early age. The actress recalls that it was her mother’s beautiful Kanjivaram saris that introduced her to fashion and subsequently became the foundation of her classic fashion sense. “I was in awe of how elegant and graceful they looked. That’s where my love for classic attire began,” she shares.
This is why it’s no surprise that the actress gravitates towards the classics when it comes to her summer style. “I have always been a lover of beautiful floral prints. I feel the summer season calls for these cute floral, breezy dresses.”
Prints are something that you’ll always find in her wardrobe, whatever the season may be, says Hegde. The actress reveals that one of her favourite styling hacks that she’s learned over the years is to play around with a monochromatic palette and add in some fun prints.
“ I feel monochromatic styling even with a loud print is a summer standout,” she says.
Aside from playing around with prints, Hegde also loves it when clothes are styled in a way they’re not supposed to be styled as it is super versatile and creative, “You know how sometimes you see girls wearing a bandana as a cute crop top? I love that trend!”
So there you have it! If you want to cop Hegde’s style for the summer, think bold prints and easy, breezy dresses!
