Classic, modern or minimal. No matter what kind of bride you’re choosing to be, HELLO! has you covered!

Suneet Varma

Born with a brilliant skillset to create literal works of art — and having worked for Yves Saint Laurent to master traditional artisanal techniques — Suneet Varma has always made a mark with his ensembles. His works showcase a contemporary, theatrical representation of the modern Indian woman, while fully embracing the romance of traditional Indian couture. His glamorous visions keep him a class apart, so it’s no wonder that when it’s time to say ‘I do,’ Varma’s lehengas are a no brainer. Add to this his staggering clientele, which include Sarah Jessica Parker, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, as well as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Disha Patani and Pernia Qureshi, closer to home.

Anita Dongre

One can’t talk about bridal couture and not mention Anita Dongre. Whether it’s her unique take on gota patti or her work with Banarasi weaves, the designer has always found her inspiration in Rajasthan and traditional Indian sensibilities. Most recently, she released a collection that’s perfect for modern brides, complete with light fabrics, designs that can be mixed, matched and reworn, and functional silhouettes (her lehengas have pockets!). Bespoke bridal suits, lehengas, prêt creations and even menswear, Dongre has something for everyone and every occasion. And celebrities are die-hard loyalists, too! Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Kangana Ranaut are just some of the A-listers that turn to Dongre for their Indian-wear needs.

Tarun Tahiliani

He’s the king of couture and every bride’s dream designer for good reason. Tarun Tahiliani is one of the few Indian high-end couturiers who has mastered the concept of comfort with visually-heavy (and absolutely stunning!) ensembles for brides. He has a gamut of celebrity clients that swear by his creations — from Janhvi Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Madhuri Dixit-Nene, to all society heavyweights across the country — whenever they have to attend a fancy do. Best known for his ability to infuse Indian craftsmanship and textile heritage with tailored silhouettes, Tahiliani combines traditional and intricate aesthetics with modern designs like no other.

Abu Jani-Sandeep Kosla

Those who identify with luxury and opulence love the designs of Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, given that they’re known to create ensembles that are anything but ordinary. The brand’s aesthetic remains sophisticated and elegant, while playing with interesting structures, beautiful colours and slick cuts. The AJSK label offers Indian wear at its finest, so it’s never a surprise when brides choose their magnificent creations when the time comes — or even otherwise!

Arpita Mehta

Every bride has to find her style. And for those that tend to gravitate towards more contemporary styles and materials like organza, Arpita Mehta is the perfect choice. Be it beautifully printed skirts or traditional pieces with a modern twist, every single outfit she creates has a unique design language. That’s probably why Bollywood’s sweethearts like Kiara Advani and Ananya Panday, among others like Khushi Kapoor, love sporting her creations time and again. We particularly love that Mehta thinks of other bridal needs like resort wear and fusion wear for the honeymoon and other occasions. And what’s more: she looked absolutely stunning in creations of her own at her recent nuptials to designer Kunal Rawal.

Rahul Mishra

The first Indian designer to showcase at the Paris Haute Couture Week, Rahul Mishra highlights slow fashion with traditional Indian crafts. His eponymous label with two flagship stores in India and a thriving national and international distribution channel finds women hot at his heels to be dressed beautifully for their big day. A name that’s cherished in bridal circles with good reason, Mishra’s ensembles are showstopping, and each piece is runway blazing and replete with bright, bold colours. Applique and cutwork in easy fabrics like georgette and crepe come to life in his designs that transcend geographies. Suzy Menkes, an avid follower of his work, regards Mishra as a “national treasure”, while the late Franca Sozzani praised him as “successfully highlighting the best and most peculiar features of his homeland”. If that isn’t testament to his genius, we don’t know what is!

Falguni Shane Peacock

An uber talented duo, Falguni Shane Peacock have changed the fashionscape in India for several years, with their serene and feminine creations. Their signature use of feathers, sequins and prints makes their work luxury unparalleled for any bride who wants to up the ante at her wedding functions. The roster of celebrities who’ve worn their creations include Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. So you know you’re in for red-carpet glam with any of their beautiful designs, whether it be Indian wear or evening gowns.

Sabyasachi

Defined by its distinctive craftsmanship, structured silhouettes and jaw-dropping ensembles, Sabyasachi is undoubtedly one of the hottest labels on the block. His garments capture a lifestyle rooted in Indian tradition, with elegance and finesse at the forefront. His trademark designs can be spotted a mile away, with clients including Indian fashionista brides and Bollywood celebrities galore. Now a global luxury brand thanks to his jewellery collaboration with Bergdorf Goodman, a Sabyasachi bride is always the happiest.
