After becoming a jury member at the Cannes film festival this year, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has received another major international honour. The Piku actress has become the first Indian celebrity to be named the House Ambassador for luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

The French fashion house announced the appointment of Padukone as their House Ambassador saying in a statement that, “Padukone has been touted as one of Indian cinema’s most loved and successful actresses to date, and her achievements have made her an icon of recent times.”

The statement further added, “Following a strong collaborative relationship with the Maison, including an appearance in Nicolas Ghesquière’s novel-inspired pre-fall 2020 campaign, the award-winning actress begins a new chapter of her journey with Louis Vuitton.”

Reportedly, a House Ambassador’s role is more collaborative and immersive than a normal brand ambassador. The actress joins celebrities like Emma Stone and Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu in becoming the brand’s House Ambassador.

The announcement will be succeeded by the launch of the Dauphine bag campaign which will have the three ambassadors feature alongside each other.

A few weeks ago, Padukone was also spotted at a gala dinner hosted by the fashion house in Venice, decked up in Louis Vuitton’s S/S 2022 collection.
