7 Celebrities Who Have Their Own Signature Perfumes

Celebrity perfumes have been a part of our pop culture ever since we can remember. The last decade saw a near explosion of colourful glass bottles emblazoned with the name of your favourite celebrities. While the celebrity perfume trend has taken a backseat in favour of make-up lines and wellness products, fragrance launches from celebrity brands like Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty still manage to be exciting, as witnessed by the fact that her perfume sold out within the first hour of its launch.

The latest celebrity to join the bandwagon is Billie Eilish who is all set to release her perfume called Eilish. The singer spoke to ELLE.com and revealed that the scent is deeply personal to her and it’s her favourite smell in the whole world and that it reminds her of all the happy and comforting memories from her childhood. It’s also 100% cruelty-free, vegan, and made with clean ingredients.
Here are seven female musicians, including Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry, who successfully launched their fragrance lines…

Rihanna at The Fashion Awards 2019
Rihanna
The first perfume released under her Fenty brand sold out within hours of its launch. Rihanna collaborated with LVMH’s master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletry to create Fenty Eau de Perfume with notes of Magnolia, Musk, Tangerine, Blueberry, Bulgarian Rose Absolute, Geranium, and Patchouli. This isn’t her first time creating fragrances though. The ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker had a collection of 11 perfumes, with some notable perfumes like Nude, Reb’l Fleur, and Riri.

Ariana Grande at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards
Ariana Grande
While Ariana Grande’s perfume collection had always been cruelty-free and made of the choicest ingredients, her latest scent God is a Woman had the singer’s brand stepping into the clean beauty territory. The fragrance is composed of 91 percent naturally derived clean ingredients and the packaging is made with sustainably-sourced materials. In addition to this, a percentage of the profits from the fragrance was donated to ocean clean up initiatives around the world. This one joins her award-winning lineup of scents, including the fan-favourite Cloud, Thank U Next, R.E.M, and Sweet Like Candy.

Los Angeles Special Screening Of Marry Me
Jennifer Lopez
J-Lo is the OG celebrity perfume creator and can be credited for launching the trend that still continues to go strong. The singer released her signature fragrance Glow back in 2004 and shook up the industry. She offered a way for her fans to connect with her that wasn’t available before. Unsurprisingly, the fragrance broke all sales records, reportedly earning 100 million dollars in its first year only, and became an instant hit. Her fragrance empire has grown to include over 25 scents, including Still, Live, Promise, Deseo, and Love and Glamour.

Lady Gaga at the House Of Gucci Italian Premiere
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga made history by becoming the first person ever to make and release a truly black perfume. Her first, and only, scent Fame comes in a sleek black and gold packaging and sprays black but dries clear. Before its release, it was reported that the singer wanted her perfume to smell of blood and semen. Thankfully for everyone involved, Gaga’s wishes remained metaphorical. The perfume combines notes of Belladonna, Tiger Orchid, Incense, Apricot, Saffron and Honey to produce a floral and fruity scent.

Taylor Swift at the US entertainment premier of ‘All Too Well’
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift teamed up with Elizabeth Arden to release her first perfume back in 2011. It was called Wonderstruck, inspired by the lyrics from her song ‘Enchanted’. The floral and fruity scent with top notes of Freesia, Apple Blossom, and Raspberry, and base notes of Vanilla and Amber suited her global appeal to fans across all age groups at the time. Her latest scent, Incredible Things, was a clear indication of the shift in her career trajectory from a sweet country singer who sang about first love to a powerful and successful globally-renowned pop star who is tired of society’s boundaries for women. The subtly sexy scent features top notes of Pink Pepper and Grapefruit, and base notes of Madagascar Vanilla, Haitian Vetiver, Musk, and White Amber.

Katy Perry at the Lifetime at Variety's Power of Women
Katy Perry
Katy Perry surprised everyone by releasing her third fragrance ‘Killer Queen’, a complete departure from the sickeningly sweet scents that preceded it. The perfume came in a red and gold jewel-shaped bottle, inspired by a queen’s spectre, and was markedly different from the previous two’s juvenile cat-shaped packaging. The scent, inspired by Queen’s eponymous song, is rich and bold with hints of dark berries, plum, and bergamot, and base notes of patchouli and cashmere.

Brittany Spears at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet
Britney Spears
Arguably the most successful celebrity perfume creator of the lot, Britney Spears’ perfume line, with 28 fragrances under its umbrella, has earned over a billion dollars ever since its launch in 2004. Her first perfume Curious is still a fan-favourite with its light fragrance, a mix of Jasmine, Vanilla, and Musk Pear, making it great for daily wear. Sales of her perfume range skyrocketed, jumping up 115 percent, because of fans outpouring support for the singer during her conservatorship trial and release of the documentary Free Brittany.
