Over the past year, speculations of a K-pop power couple existing in the shadows have been emerging and it looks like there is a big new development on that front.

A French journalist shared clips and photographs of who they claimed were BTS’ V (or Kim Taehyung) and Blackpink’s Jennie taking a romantic stroll along the Sienne in Paris.

TikTok user Amar Taoualit claimed that he spotted the two idols getting out of their cars in Paris and insisted that it was actually the two of them on a romantic date night.

Fans of the two popular Korean idols immediately began investigating the clip deeply, analysing every single detail about the two blurry figures in the video carefully.

While many agreed that it could be anyone since the video was taken from a distance and the figures weren’t clear, there were many fans who found evidence that the two figures were, in fact, Jennie and V.

This is not new as dating rumours have surrounded the two idols for a long time. Speculations began in December 2021 when V briefly followed and unfollowed Jennie on Instagram. The ‘Singularity’ singer, however, went on WeVerse to address the issue and claimed that it was an accident.

“Is there a way to get rid of the ‘recommended’ friends list here on this Insta thing?.... It’s a scary app. (sic),” he wrote.

In May 2022, photos of Jennie and V surfaced where the two could be seen on a date on Jeju Island. More personal photos of them spending time together in different locations leaked in August and September.

Jennie’s agency YG Entertainment released a statement where they simply wrote, “We have nothing to say [regarding this matter]. We will inform you if we have a different response to share.” BTS’ parent company Big Hit Entertainment didn’t comment on the issue.

However, when the speculations refused to die down, YG Entertainment released another statement in October, where they claimed that they would be taking legal action against those who are spreading Jennie’s private photos.

“We have refrained from mentioning the matter or making an official statement in order to minimize any further damage,” the agency said in its statement, “However, there have been indiscriminate rumours, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment and violations of personal life sparked by those private photographs.”

With these recently surfaced clips and photographs, the dating speculations are on fire again. Many fans are over the moon with what seems like a confirmation of their relationship status, but many have been critical about what they believe are falsely edited photographs and clips.

While there were a few who tried to imagine the new world order if the rumours were ever confirmed to be true.

Korean celebrities, especially K-pop idols, are notorious for keeping their dating lives private mostly because of the reaction of fans. So it’s not likely that the two idols will confirm whether they’re dating or not anytime soon.

Whether they’re dating or not, spreading private photographs or videos and maligning the celebrity your favourite idol might be dating is not the way to go about it.
