Whether it’s Sonam Kapoor or Alia Bhatt, these celebrity moms have not shied away from getting real about the changes they’ve experienced as new mothers. From talking about balancing motherhood with their successful careers to expressing a shift in their worldview, here are five times Bollywood moms got real about motherhood.

Priyanka Chopra

Early in January 2022, Priyanka Chopra surprised fans by announcing that The Chopra-Jonas family was welcoming a new addition. Maltie Marie was introduced to the world by her parents through heartwarming Instagram posts, where both the parents waxed lyrical about how the baby had changed their lives. Chopra has been vocal about the role played by the mothers in her life, including her mom Madhu Chopra and Nick Jonas’ mother Denise Miller-Jonas, When it comes to navigating motherhood.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma seconds Chopra’s thoughts on the matter and has often spoken about the importance of sisterhood when it comes to taking on the challenges that motherhood brings. She has also spoken about her worries that she might not actually like being a mother while she was pregnant with her daughter Vamika. The Zero actress went on to say that being a mother has helped her grow as a person and embrace the new role, even if it comes with being in a state of constant worry at all times.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt is one of the busiest, and most successful, actors of the moment. The Gangubai Kathiawadi actress welcomed her first child with her husband Ranbir Kapoor last November and jumped straight back into work after recovering. From debuting at the Met Gala to being named the first Indian global ambassador for Gucci, Bhatt has been on a roll. In an interview, Bhatt spoke about how important it is for women to not let the guilt of supposedly leaving their child behind while working stop them from doing what they want. “It is a very regular feeling, and you just need to tell yourself that you are doing your best.”

Despite the endless mommy blogs on Instagram and serene ads on the TV will tell the journey to motherhood is not all cute maternity fashion and pastel nursery furniture. Actress Sonam Kapoor, who welcomed her baby boy Vaayu last August, has spoken up about the difficulties of being pregnant. The Neerja actress revealed that her pregnancy was difficult as she was of advanced maternal age and had to go through tonnes of health issues while she was pregnant. She has been candid about postpartum life, sharing updates on her Instagram and, in her characteristic manner, benign unflinchingly real about going through motherhood.

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor has always been an inspiration, whether it’s her style game or her attitude towards life and relationships. On becoming a mother, the actress had said that it’s natural that her priorities would shift, especially because she’s a hands-on mother. The actress, who has since worked on many endorsements, shows, and movies, says it’s ridiculous that women are expected to do all this as a norm, yet when a man does this, it’s pronounced a big deal. She has also spoken up about how she balances parenting duties with Saif Ali Khan to strike the balance.
