One of the biggest events on the calendar of any fashion enthusiast is around the corner and speculations about the star-studded guest list are on fire.
The Met Gala is scheduled to roll out its red carpet on the first of May and will have celebrities show up in their finest to pay tribute to former Chanel head Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019 and is the theme of this year’s exhibit.
The guest list for the event is filled with the who’s who of the entertainment, art, and fashion industry and, therefore, an invite is much coveted.
Earlier in March, reports surfaced that Anna Wintour is cracking down on the guest list and no Kardashian had made the cut.
This was big news because the Met Gala red carpet was never free of a Kardashian since 2013 and the family always brought millions of eyeballs to the proceedings purely because of their influence.
Last year, Kim’s Met Gala costume was all anyone could talk about when she borrowed Marylin Monroe’s historic Jean Louis gown, which she wore to serenade US President Kennedy on his birthday.
The SKIMS founder was criticised for nearly damaging the iconic garment but Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, the owners of the dress, dismissed any report of damage to the dress. The outrage didn’t end there. When the reality show superstar revealed the dangerous weight loss regimen she had put herself on to fit into the dress, she was called out for perpetuating harmful body image ideas to her influential audience.
The negative attention around Kardashian’s Met Gala appearance gave weight to the speculations that she would not be invited to attend this year’s gala.
However, Page Six has confirmed from a source that she would be attending the event with one family member and is not, in fact, banned from the guest list.
How excited are you to see the celebrities at Met Gala this year?
