The Oscars 2023 ceremony is inching closer day by day and we’re getting closer to seeing a live performance of ‘Naatu Naatu’ by the cast of SS Rajamouli’s RRR!
ICYMI, the song was nominated at the Academy Awards in the ‘Best Original Song’ category after winning big at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards recently.
So it wasn’t a surprise to see Telugu actor Ram Charan, who is one of the two leads in the movie, make his way to Los Angeles to attend the ceremony. What caught people’s eyes was the fact that the actor was clad in an all-black outfit and was barefoot at the airport.
The reason behind the actor going sans footwear was that he was observing Ayyappa Deeksha, a Hindu religious ritual followed by the devotees of Swamy Ayyappa for 41 days before visiting his temple in Shabarimalai, Kerala. The ritual asks the devotees to remain barefoot on the days of fasting.
The actor has had a phenomenal year professionally, what with RRR sweeping the award season and catapulting him into international stardom. He is also expecting his first child with his wife Upasana.
