Legendary singer Alka Yagnik has set a massive new record. According to Guinness World Records, the singer was the most streamed artist in the whole world in 2022, leaving behind giants like Taylor Swift and BTS. However, this is not the first time she has done it. This was her third consecutive year to set the record!
According to the report, Yagnik’s songs amassed 15.3 billion streams in 2022, with an average of 42 million streams per day. She recorded 17 billion streams in 2021 and 16.6 billion in 2020.
She is followed by Bad Bunny, whose songs garnered 14.7 billion streams. The other three names in the Top 5 list are Indian artists, including Udit Narayan (10.8 billion), Arijit Singh (10.7 billion), and Kumar Sanu (9.09 billion).
K-pop supergroup BTS managed to place in the top 10 with 7.95 billion streams, followed by Blackpink with their 7.03 billion streams. Taylor Swift took the 26th spot on the list with 4.33 billion streams.
Yagnik has been one of the preeminent playback singers in Bollywood since the 90s. The singer has lent her voice to actors like Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, and Deepika Padukone.
