One of the most underrated Bollywood movies of the early aughts is going to be (unofficially) revived soon and Sara Ali Khan will star in it.

No, we’ve not copy pasted a headline from back when Imtiaz Ali announced Khan as the lead in the spiritual sequel to his 2009 film Love Aaj Kal. The Kedarnath actress is going to be a part of Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, an unofficial successor of his beloved 2007 multi-starrer movie Life In A… Metro.

The older movie followed the lives of nine people living and working in Mumbai and how their lives change drastically as they become interconnected with each other. It starred Konkona Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, and Kay Kay Menon.

Khan took to Instagram to share the big announcement revealing that she will be paired with Aditya Roy Kapur in the movie, writing that she is “super excited and grateful” to be a part of the film.

In a statement, Basu said the movie will be an anthology and that it will be a “tale of the people, for the people”. He added, “The storyline is very fresh and relevant as I look forward to collaborating with amazing artists who bring that essence of contemporary aura with them.”

In the post, Khan also revealed that music director Pritam is reuniting with Basu for the OST of the film. Pritam was responsible for creating the memorable soundtrack for Life In A…Metro too.

“As music plays a very important role in any film, I couldn’t be happier to be collaborating with my dear friend Pritam who has literally added life to the characters and story with his work,” said Basu.

Metro In Dino has Sen Sharma collaborating with Basu again. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
