Ace cricketer KL Rahul and actor Athiya Shetty are all set to tie the knot this January, reports say. While the exact date is still under wraps, it’s confirmed that the wedding is scheduled for early next year. The couple is looking forward to a traditional wedding and have even finalised their wedding ensembles.
According to reports, the duo has forsaken the customary five-star banquet hall and are going for a more offbeat venue. The intimate wedding ceremony will be held at Shetty’s Mumbai home, Jahaan.
After months of speculation, the two made their relationship public in 2021, when the latter attended the screening of Shetty’s brother Ahan’s debut film Tadap.
As it turns out, the couple had gotten together much before they made their relationship official. In fact, the actress often accompanied her beau for his international matches, and now the two frequently post loved-up pictures with each other on social media.
As for the date of the wedding, it will be decided keeping in mind the cricketer’s super busy work schedule. Reportedly, a famous wedding organiser recently even visited Khandala to do recee for the same.
Her father Suniel Shetty had more-or-less confirmed their upcoming nuptials on various occasions over the last few months. At the launch event of his crime thriller Dharavi Bank, the actor was asked about the wedding, to which he said, “Jaldi hogi (It will happen very soon).”
When probed about the wedding dates last month, the Hera Pheri star revealed,“I think jaise hi bachhe decide karenge (it will happen as soon as the kids decide). Rahul ke schedules hai. Abhi Asia Cup hai, World Cup hai, South African tour hai, Australia tour hai. Jab bachho ko break milega tab shaadi hogi. Ek din me shaadi nahi ho sakti na? (Rahul has busy schedules, Asia Cup, World Cup, South African tour, Australia tour. The wedding will happen only when the kids get a break. It can’t happen in a day, no?)”
