Taylor Swift has broken another record in her quest to become the most beloved artist in the world.

During the recently-held American Music Awards, Swift earned herself six trophies, including the biggest prize of the night: The Artist of the Year. With these added to her tally, the singer-songwriter set a new record for the most AMA wins, surpassing Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston with her 40 trophies.

Swift, who had not hinted at her appearance at the awards ceremony, surprised fans and fellow artists by showing up right after winning the Favourite Pop Album award for Red (Taylor’s Version).

“This album is a re-recorded album, and I cannot tell you how much my re-recorded albums mean to me,” she said during her acceptance speech. “But I never expected or assumed that they would mean anything to you.”

The history-maker looked like she had stepped out of the sets of the music video of her song ‘Bejeweled’ (from Midnights) in her rhinestone-studded jumpsuit from The Blonds.

The singer also won Favourite Music Video (for ‘All Too Well’), Favourite Female Pop Artist, Favourite Female Country Artist, and Favourite Country Album for Red (Taylor’s Version).

“You, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music that I would make. You encouraged me. So I found the more music I made and the more music I put out, the happier I was,” she said, during one of her many heartfelt acceptance speeches of the night, “I have the fans to thank essentially for my happiness, and I love you more than I can say.”

Korean supergroup BTS continued their AMAs win streak by bagging the Favourite Pop Duo or Group and Favourite K-Pop Artist trophies.

Bad Bunny, who scored the highest nominations of the night, went home with two trophies including Favourite Male Latin Artist and Favourite Latin album.
