BTS might have taken a temporary hiatus from group activities, but it doesn’t mean they’re done setting (and breaking) new records with everything they do.

The youngest member of the group Jeon Jungkook became the first Asian artist to perform the FIFA World Cup anthem at the opening ceremony in Doha on Sunday.

The vocal line member made history by performing ‘Dreamers’, the official 2022 World Cup anthem, with Qatari artist Fahad Al Kubaisi. Previously, artists like Ricky Martin, Shakira, and Enrique Iglesias performed the World Cup anthems.

While the Internet (predictably) had a meltdown over his performance, his group members were his biggest cheerleaders for the night.

Members RM, J-Hope, Suga, V, and Jimin took to Instagram and their in-house social media platform WeVerse to cheer the youngest on.

The leader of the band RM, or Kim Namjoon, shared a video of his live reaction to the performance, while Suga, or Min Yoongi, echoed his statement from the band’s anniversary dinner in June when he exclaimed how “Jungkook is all grown up now”.

J-Hope, or Jung Hoseok, revealed he had “goosebumps” throughout the performance and Jimin shared a screenshot from the performance and captioned it “So cool!”

As is the case with any historic moment in their career, the BTS maknae decided to do a Live chat session with the ARMYs worldwide to share his gratitude and love after the performance.

‘Dreamers’, which was released a few hours prior to the live performance, instantly skyrocketed to the top of the charts across the world, including the iTunes charts of 102 different regions.
