Superstar Akshay Kumar has been roped in to essay the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in actor-director-producer Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming magnum opus, Veer Daudale Saat. The project is scheduled to release around Diwali 2023.
The announcement was made at a grand event held on November 2 in Mumbai. As part of the promotional strategy, Kumar’s involvement in the project was kept top secret to build suspense around the film. Even the invitation cards of the event didn’t mention the actor’s role in the film or hint at his presence at the venue. The superstar made an unexpected entrance all of a sudden, shocking the journalists and guests attending the conference.
Apart from Akshay Kumar, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief and founder, Raj Thackeray were also present at the event, along with Mahesh Manjrekar himself.
The Hera Pheri actor has always been lauded for his versatile acting prowess, great work ethic and the different genres of films he chooses to be a part of every year. This year, for instance, he was seen in an action comedy (Bachhchan Paandey), period drama (Samrat Prithviraj), family entertainer (Raksha Bandhan), murder mystery (Cuttputlli) and action adventure (Ram Setu). The actor already has more than half a dozen films in his kitty, and yet he just doesn’t seem to tire. We’re not complaining though—the more the merrier it is when it comes to Akshay Kumar movies.
Veer Daudale Saat will be released not only in Marathi but also in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Produced by Vaseem Qureshi’s Qureshi Productions, this film will be the third consecutive Diwali release for Akshay Kumar after Sooryavanshi (2021) and Ram Setu (2022).
