Lady Gaga is making her DC debut with the upcoming sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker. The ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker is going to star opposite Joaquin Pheonix as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux.

Gaga announced this on Twitter by sharing a teaser, revealing that the movie will be out on October 4, 2024.

While Gaga’s exact role is unconfirmed, it’s clear from the sequel’s French title (which means ‘shared delusional disorder’) and the mini teaser that she shared online that the singer is going to play the role of Joker’s psychiatrist and co-conspirator in the movie.

The original movie became a global phenomenon, grossing over $1 billion worldwide. It has become one of the highest-grossing R-rated movies in history. The role of the psychopathic villain earned Phoenix critical acclaim and several awards, including the ‘Best Actor’ trophy at the Oscars, where the movie was nominated in 11 categories.

According to Variety, the upcoming sequel is going to be a musical, which makes sense because Gaga in a musical as Harley Quinn is stuff only dreams are made of.

Up till now, Margot Robbie has made the character of Quinn iconic with movies like Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020), and The Suicide Squad (2021). This is why fans are super excited to see what Gaga brings to the role.

The ‘Million Reasons’ singer has previously proved her acting chops in movies like the 2018 remake of A Star Is Born, opposite Bradley Cooper, and got herself an Oscar nomination for the role too.
