Gemma Chan is having a year to watch out for. With her latest release The Eternals breaking the box office, we know that her upcoming films are slated to be even better. Known for her undeniable charm and jaw-dropping style, Chan is one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood. The Don’t Worry Darling star is all set to get back into the role of her most beloved character, Astrid for the sequel of the 2018 romantic-comedy, Crazy Rich Asians.

Starring alongside Harry Shum Jr., we will be seeing a whole new side of Astrid with a new love interest, Charlie, who was also her first love. Adapted from the book China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan, the movie is currently in the development stage and will start filming later this year.

But while we wait for our new favourite rom-com to hit theatres, here is a list of Gemma Chan’s best films that you need to watch ASAP!

Crazy Rich Asians

The movie that made us fall in love with Gemma Chan, Crazy Rich Asians revolves around Rachel, an Asian-American professor who falls in love with Nick Young and is excited to meet the family of the man of her dreams. But Rachel gets a subdued welcome when she discovers that her humble boyfriend comes from one of the richest families in Asia. While this movie is all about Asian lavishness and grandeur, it is Chan’s Character, Astrid, that stole our hearts. Nick’s heiress cousin, Astrid is known for her beauty and impeccable style, but it’s her warmth and kindheartedness that lets us see more than the ‘perfect’ facade she puts on.

The Eternals

A marvel superhero, Gemma plays the role of Sersi in The Eternals alongside a star-studded cast. The movie picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where Thanos snapped the entire planet’s population into half, and a group of ancient superhumans get back together to reunite against the Deviants. The Prime Eternal and the leader of Earth’s Superhumans, Sersi’s only mission is to protect the planet and its humanity.

Captain Marvel

Starring in another Marvel superhero film, this time around, Gemma’s character is slightly different from Sersi’s. One of the most iconic MCU films, Captain Marvel revolves around an extraterrestrial hero, who finds herself amidst an intergalactic battle between the Skrulls and the Krees. But even the most powerful superhero has a dark past that she keeps having recurring flashbacks about. With the help of Nick Fury, Captain Marvel uncovers the secrets of her past while using her superpowers to end the war against the Starforce troupe. Part of the evil alien group, Minn Erva played by Chan is a Kree geneticist and the sworn enemy of Captain Marvel.

Raya And The Last Dragon

Raya And The Last Dragon has created some major waves in the world of Disney. The story is about a young warrior princess, Raya, who must find the last dragon to save her world from an evil plague. In the animated film, Gemma voices the role of the antagonist, Namaari, who plots to steal the Dragon Gem to use its powers to expand the fortunes of her land, Fang.
