Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had announced the arrival of a new member of their family when they revealed they were expecting a baby girl via surrogacy in January.

The couple had kept details of their daughter under wraps, with Chopra’s mother revealing that even she has not met her grandchild in person yet because of the pandemic and was expecting the couple to arrive with their daughter to the country very soon.

On Mother’s Day, however, Chopra shared the first photos of her daughter, welcoming her home with a heartfelt caption that spoke about the emotional rollercoaster of the journey they’ve been on as a family for the past 100 plus days as their baby was admitted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for undisclosed complications.

“On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced. After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home,” wrote Chopra, “Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is.”

The actress also thanked the staff and doctors of the hospital their daughter was admitted to, “We are overjoyed that our little girl is finally home, and just want to thank every Doctor, nurse and specialist at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, who were there selflessly every step of the way.”

Chopra concluded the caption by writing, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and caretakers in my life and out there. You make it look so easy. Thank you.”

Jonas, too, shared the picture on his Instagram, writing, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers and caretakers out there, but I want to take a minute to say a special Mother’s Day wish to my incredible wife @priyankachopra (sic) on her first Mother’s Day. Babe, you inspire me and every way, and you are taking to this new role with such ease and steadiness. I am so grateful to be on this journey with you. You are already an incredible mother. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you.”

A few weeks earlier, celebrity news portal TMZ had revealed that the couple had named their child Maltie Marie Chopra, based on their mothers’ middle names. While they didn’t confirm whether the reports are true or not, Chopra did sign off her caption by writing, “Let’s get it MM! Mommy and Daddy love you.”
