Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is going to be a part of the eight-member jury at the 75th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

The actress joins French actor Vincent London, English actress Rebecca Hall, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, American director Jeff Nichols, French filmmaker Ladj Ly, and Norwegian screenwriter Joachim Trier.

The jury will be responsible for selecting the recipient of the Palme d’Or honour out of the 21 films shortlisted for it at the closing of the ceremony.

While the actress has walked the red carpet at the film Festival multiple times over the years as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal Paris, this is the first time she would be walking as a jury member.

Padukone took to Instagram to share the news with her fans. Her profile lists all her achievements, including the setting up of The Live Love Laugh Foundation and her work towards destigmatisation of mental illness in India.

The actress has joined the ranks of Bollywood actresses like Sharmila Tagore, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nandita Das, and Vidya Balan with her appointment as a Cannes Film Festival jury member.
