Actor Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have kept mum on the details about their daughter ever since they announced the new addition to their family this January. But if reports from TMZ are to be believed, the name of their baby is finally out.
According to the news outlet, they obtained the birth certificate of the baby and discovered that she’s called Malti Marie Chopra.
Like their relationship, the name is a beautiful coming-together of two cultures, with ‘Malti’ coming from the Sanskrit word for ‘small fragrant flower’ or ‘moonlight’.
The couple announced the news of the baby in January with an Instagram post, much to their fans‘ joy. Later, Chopra’s mother revealed that because of the pandemic, she hasn’t been able to visit the actress or her granddaughter and was hoping the couple makes their way to India soon.
In a chat with friend and chat show host Lilly Singh, Chopra spoke about the kind of parent she wants to be for her daughter, saying that “As a new parent right now, I keep thinking about that I will never be imposing my desires, fears, my upbringing on to my child. I have always believed that children come through you not from you. There is no belief like this is my child and I will shape everything. They come through you to find and build their own life. Recognising that really helped me, my parents were very non-judgemental in a certain way.”
While the Chopra-Jonas family hasn’t confirmed any detail about the baby yet, here’s hoping the family is happy and healthy.
