Mrunal Thakur is getting ready for the release of her much-awaited film Jersey, co-starring Shahid Kapoor. The film revolves around a talented cricketer who fails to make it into the Indian cricket team in his younger days but decides to return to the sport that he loves the most in his thirties, only to fulfil his son’s wish.

Playing the role of Kapoor’s wife, Mrunal has a pivotal role in the lead character’s road to success. Recently while the stars continued their final round of promotional events, Mrunal spoke about how she took inspiration from her mom to play the role of a mother. Talking to a news portal, Thakur said “I play the role of a mother in this film, something I haven’t really experienced in real life, and so I drew reference from my mother for the part.”

After a long delay, Jersey is finally set to hit the theatres on April 22, 2022, after the release dates got pushed twice. The movie was initially going to release in December last year but got postponed due to Covid. It was then gearing up to release on April 14, 2022, but got pushed once again as the makers of the film did not want its release to clash with K.G.F: Chapter 2. “I have waited for this film to hit the big screen for so long. I have worked really hard on this project, and I am happy that people will finally get to see it,” says Thakur.

Mrunal recently shared a glimpse of her upcoming Telugu film, Sita Ramam, where she is co-starring with Dulquer Salmaan and Rashmika Mandanna. She will also be seen in the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, Thadam with Aditya Roy Kapoor.
