Diipa Büller Khosla talks to HELLO! about staying positive, juggling many roles, and skincare tips she swears by…

H!: You’re our ‘Influencer of the Year’! Though we’ve heard you’re not particularly fond of the word... Why is that?

Diipa Büller Khosla: “I’m a lot of things: a woman, a mother, an entrepreneur, activist, a leader... I feel ‘influencer’ is not a wide enough term to capture what I want to build and achieve. It diminishes the contribution my peers and I bring to the table. The lines between what we’d consider a traditional celebrity and a digital or social media celebrity are blurred now. I don’t feel ‘influencer’ reflects that change, empowerment and shift in perception.”

H!: Fashionista, brand favourite, beauty entrepreneur, speaker, mother... You play myriad roles in your life. How do you stay organised?

DBK: “Priorities over everything! It’s a tough act to balance these constant and demanding roles, but I can’t complain. With so many things going on, it’s crucial to stay on top of things and be organised. A clear plan of action helps me a lot; I try to prioritise my tasks every day. Of course, there are times when things get chaotic, but I take a deep breath and remind myself that it’s all part of the journey!”

H!: Your followers always want to know how you stay so positive. What’s your outlook on life today?

DBK: “Well, I have to say that staying positive isn’t always easy, but I focus on all the good things in my life and be grateful for them. I also try to surround myself with positive people who uplift me and make me feel good. I try to stay optimistic and find joy in the little things. Life is essentially about how you look at things; it helps that I’m a ‘glass half full’ kind of person!”

H!: What are you most excited about this year?

DBK: “For starters, I’m juggling life between Mumbai and Amsterdam. It’s going to be an awesome adventure and gives my family and I a unique blend of cultures to draw inspiration from. There are some major announcements in the works for Indē Wild in the US. We’ve been working so hard on some new things that I can’t wait to share. On a personal note, I can’t wait to watch my daughter Dua grow. She celebrated her second birthday this year!”

H!: Share a few moments that stood out for you in the past year.

DBK: “One of the highlights was when Indē Wild raised US$3 million in seed funding, breaking all barriers for South Asians across the world. Another big moment was getting featured on the covers of leading magazines; they were such surreal experiences. Then there was the launch event for Indē Wild’s collaboration with Nykaa. It was amazing to see our hard work pay off. And finally, I had the honour of hosting the inauguration event of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. All in all, 2022 was full of moments I’ll never forget!”

H!: Could you share a few skincare and haircare tips you swear by?

DBK: “For skincare, I believe in keeping things simple and minimal. A basic routine of cleansing, moisturising and protecting your skin is all you need. It’s also important to focus on your food, sleep and lifestyle habits. They have a big impact on your skin’s health. For haircare, I’m a big believer in the power of champi! Regular oiling can help nourish and strengthen your hair. Trust me, it helps! Don’t be afraid to get your hands greasy and pamper your locks with some TLC!”
