Shine Bright Like A Diamond With This Ethereal Lip Trend

We all know that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and the girlies love them so much that they’re becoming TikTok‘s hottest make-up trend for the lips. Influencers and beauty gurus are jumping on board this dazzling trend, elevating their make-up game with a super-sparkly pout that would even give Edward Cullen from Twilight a run for his money.

For too long, glittery make-up has been reserved only for those special moments in life; the kind where you dress up, hit the town, and dance the night away. But what if we told you that the sparkle and shine of disco ball-like products can be enjoyed every day? Enter the ‘diamond lips’ trend, the latest TikTok-approved make-up technique that’s both effortless and easy to recreate.

It’s time to add your shimmery shadows, pencils, and glosses to your daily routine. Who says you can’t rock a little sparkle on a regular workday or a casual first date with that special someone? With diamond lips, you’ll always be ready to shine.

What are Diamond Lips?

This trend is all about achieving a shimmery, sparkling effect on your lips, inspired by the brilliance of actual diamonds. You don’t need to go to any extremes, such as glueing on plastic crystals, to achieve this look. The credit for the trend goes to TikTok creator Eva Larosa, who introduced the world to this technique.

The best part is that you can pull off this look on a daily basis, and you probably already have the necessary products in your make-up collection. To get the diamond lips effect, you’ll need to layer a metallic eye pencil and illuminating eye shadow with a neutral lip liner and a nourishing clear gloss.

While the metallic Y2K-inspired chrome lip trend made waves on TikTok earlier this year, a more subdued lip look has taken centre stage in recent months. In September of last year, the ‘cherub lips’ hack went viral, offering a way to achieve a fuller, doll-like pout. Shortly after, the ‘movie lips’ craze took off, which gave the impression of a natural, just-kissed look.

Now, the up-and-coming diamond lips technique takes the best elements of all these popular trends and combines them into one dazzling look. You get the glitter and shine of chrome lips, the plumpness of cherub lips (albeit to a lesser extent), and the ‘barely there’ effect of movie lips. To quote Hannah Montana, with diamond lips, you really are getting “the best of both worlds.”

How to get diamond lips?

With just four easy steps, the diamond lips technique is simple enough even for make-up newbies to pull off like a pro. In a video breaking down the process, Larosa spills all the deets about the products and methods she uses to achieve this ethereal look.

Step 1: Begin by using the Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in shade C’est La Vie! to draw a thin line along your cupid’s bow. Next, fill in the centre of your lower lip with the same pencil.

Step 2: Use your fingertip to smudge and blend the liner on your bottom lip.

Step 3: Line both your upper and lower lips (excluding the cupid’s bow) with Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Lip Liner.

Step 4: Finish the look by applying Revolution Skincare’s SPF 30 Lip Balm to your entire pout. Then, use a shimmery white eyeshadow from Revolution’s I Heart Chocolate S’mores Eyeshadow Palette and dab it onto the gloss, concentrating the product in the centre of your lip, and voilà!

If you don’t have the exact same products as Larosa, don’t worry, you can still achieve the diamond lips look with similar items you might already have. For example, you can use a drugstore lip liner instead of the Charlotte Tilbury one. If you’re short on time, skip the metallic eye pencil and eyeshadow and apply a layer of super-shimmery gloss or lipstick instead.

And if you don’t want to invest in silver metallic products that you may not use often, you can try the trend with pink or bronze pencils and shadows you already have in your collection. Using shimmery shades that match your natural lip colour will give you a more subtle look, but you’ll still sparkle like a diamond.
